Money Can Buy You Happiness!

The old saying is that money can't buy you happiness, however after a lot of looking, investigating and hypothesising scholars have found that it's not how Much you spend, but What you spend it on that matters. Here are some researched examples of high "cost to joy ratio" spends:

- Buy less house than you can afford. Habitancy are less happy when the Jones's next door have more money than they do. Habitancy are happier with a ,000 revenue and surrounded by ,000 earners than with an revenue of 0,000 if all their neighbours are in the 0,000 bracket.

Jones Beach Concerts

- Buy tickets. Experiences are what beyond doubt makes you happy, not stuff and clutter. Concerts, sporting events and holidays bring more joy than toys. So rather than accumulating a house full of possessions you'll feel better on a beach, in a stadium or a theatre somewhere.

Money Can Buy You Happiness!

- Join a gym, buy a bike or take dance lessons. You've seen the study about endorphins and exercise... Even the anti-depression specialists swear by it... Exercise makes you happy!

- Buy a newspaper. Habitancy who talk about issues like the economy, the Gulf Oil Spill and the Word Cup are happier than those who focus on the weather.

- Buy tools. Now you're talking! Habitancy feel good when they are productive and can see the results of their endeavours.

- Throw parties. As mentioned above - Habitancy enjoy events. When you combine those events with close ties to family, friends and the society the combination correlates strongly with happiness.

Throwing a Shipwrecked Island Party Makes The Most of Summer's End

Rather than being sad when the end of summer rolls around, I say, it's party time! Instead of feeling like your boat has run aground by the end of summer, why not throw a summer's end soirée that's fun for the whole family...maybe even the whole neighborhood!

If the concept of throwing a party is akin to walking the plank and jumping into the dark abyss, then think of me as your life preserver! I'll take you through the process of putting a party together using my easy recipe for creating memorable events. When we're done organizing the details of your summer party into six easy-to-remember elements, you'll be navigation smoothly into an touch that your guests will treasure for many summers to come. Ahoy matey!

Jones Beach Concerts

Element #1 - Theme, Mood, & Color: Carry Out Your Theme in all things You Do

Throwing a Shipwrecked Island Party Makes The Most of Summer's End

Every great party starts with a great theme! For your summer's end soirée throw a Shipwrecked Island Party! What is s a shipwrecked island party? Well, it's a not an island luau, although a luau-style feast could literally be a part of the festivities. It's not a pirate party, although a few pirates in attendance might add a bit of fun, and it's not a beachcomber party, although you'll want abundance of sand and seashells in your décor. Think of a deserted island inhabited by a group of tattered castaways hoping for recovery and you'll get the picture.

When creating the theme for this party, I found it helpful to use my "imagination board" to perform a "brainstorming" exercise. An imagination board is a large dry erase board that affords you abundance of room to write and allows a free flow of ideas. To begin with, I wrote my theme name, "Shipwrecked Island," in the town of the board and then around it wrote down all things that came to mind such as boat, sails, treasure, stranded, beach, shells, trunks, chests, mosquito nets, fishing nets, palm trees, flowers, coconuts, fish, and crabs. Then, to help get my creative juices flowing, I concept about all the great movies, Tv shows, and music that had to do with shipwrecks, islands and castaways, like "Titanic," "Lost," "Swiss family Robinson," "Castaway," "Survivor," the "Gilligan's Island" theme song, and tunes by Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley. I used these ideas as inspiration for my invitations, decorations, menu and signature drink, activities, and special touches.

Element #2 - Invitations: Make Them intriguing

If you were on a deserted island somewhere and needed help, something you might do is write a message in a bottle and cast it out to sea in hope that person would get your Sos. This is both a fun and easy idea because there are many places you can find message-in-a-bottle type invitation kits both online and in brick and mortar craft stores, or you can make your own using real glass bottles.

Most craft kits comprise paper, but if you don't like the paper choice, you can opt for your own. Start your invitations with a great occasion line that ties into your theme. Something like: "Come Get Stranded for a While" (taken from my brainstorming exercise). This occasion line sets the tone for the party and let's habitancy know they're in for some fun. Be sure to comprise the who, what, where, when, and why details. Encourage guests to wear tattered clothes, their castaway best, to add a fun and casual feeling to the party and other layer of authenticity. Add interest to the inside of the bottle by along with some sand and a few tiny seashells. Stop the invitation off with a twine decoration plainly wrapped around the neck of the bottle, cleave your mailing label over the ends of the twine and your done! You've created a fun invitation that will make habitancy want to come and get lost for a while!

Element #3 - Decor & Ambiance: Set and Setting Are Everything

The trick to decorating for my summer's end Shipwrecked Island Party was retention in mind that it was all about creating illusion. My house was the ship and the yard the island. To board the ship, guests had to walk the plank which was surrounded by an intriguing display of washed up treasures along with a small ancient chair, some sand to give the illusion of the shore, an old hand mirror, jewelry, tarnished pewter candleholders, and other items that looked water damaged and time worn.

To enhance the island feel, around the perimeter of the outdoor party space I located a vinyl "Scene Setter" of the sun setting brilliantly over the ocean titled "Sunset Beach" (available online from Party City). A few potted palm trees, dried palm fronds, and lush bouquets of tropical flowers completed the look I was after.

However you go about creating your summer's end theme, there are two things to keep in mind to speak the authenticity of your party: (1) Remember if you were on a deserted island, you would be surrounded by water; and (2) When selecting decorations, pick items that are found in nature, things you might literally find on a deserted island, like palm fronds, shells, leafs, driftwood, and tropical flowers, and use natural colors and fibers such as brown raffia, twine, and brown rope.

Element #4 - Food & Beverage: Never Stress About Food and Drinks

The menu for my summer's end Shipwrecked Island Party included a signature cocktail I created called "Blue Lagoon." Made with blue Curacao, a liqueur flavored with the dried peel of the laraha citrus fruit grown on the island of Curacao, this yummy drink, with its lovely deep blue color and served in a large clam shell punch bowl, is reminiscent of a tropical lagoon. If you've taken the time to get ready a great cocktail, the best way to do it justice is to serve it in an suitable glass. Using the right glass for the right drink can accentuate the smell, texture, and flavor of the beverage. So for my signature Blue Lagoon cocktail, I chose coconut cups, although other fun idea would be to use mixed-matched glasses, mugs, and cups that have seemingly washed ashore after a shipwreck. Both are reusable, environmentally cordial options over plastic or paper cups.

Which brings me to serving pieces -- to create a clever and unique buffet table for this shipwreck party, use mix-matched serving pieces that again, have seemingly washed ashore or that you would find in nature, such as palm fronds, tropical leaves, bamboo mats, driftwood, and shells. Luau fringed place mats are fun, as are beachcomber hats, which also make great serving bowls when turned upside down. Supplementary table décor might comprise an eclectic mix of clear-glass bottles wrapped with twine and filled with seashells and flowers.

Element #5 - Activities: Engage Your Guests in An Activity

"Ahoy Matey! This is the spirit of Captain Blue Beard of the once dreaded pirate ship the nautical Pearl. If you are reading this [Argh] it means you've found me treasure maps! So, make two teams and give a map to each. If you wants to find me gold, you gotta first find me clues. The maps will show you the way. When all the clues are found, join teams to unscramble the words. This shall point the way to me treasure chest and your reward!"

A treasure hunt can be great fun at a party yet intriguing to pull off. I'll break it down, however, into seven easy peezy steps using the treasure hunt created specifically for this Shipwrecked Island Party Plan.

For this activity, you'll need: - 2 blank treasure maps - A Sharpie pen - Gold coins - A treasure chest with booty or treasure - 2 pieces of note paper - Twine to tie up the scrolled maps.

Step 1 - The maps. Start with a blank map (which can be bought online). Customize it to reflect the key areas of your party space where the treasure hunt will take place. Make a copy so that you have two identical maps, one for each team.

Step 2 - conclude where to hide the treasure chest and make up a clue that describes the location. I hid my treasure chest in a back projection of my yard so my clue read: "Between two gates on the Southwest shore."

Step 3 - Using a Sharpie pen, write your clue using letters, combinations of letters, and words on 16 gold coins, so that there are 8 clues/coins per team.

Step 4 - isolate the coins into two piles. While hiding one set of coins, mark one of the maps with each location of the inexpressive clues. Repeat the process with the other map and set of coins using other part of the party area.

Step 5 - Roll up the maps and tie them with twine.

Step 6 - Type the above note from Captain Blue Beard and attach it to the maps so that everybody knows the rules of the game. If you're working with small children, it's a good idea to have at least one older child on each team who can read and help the others understand.

Step 7 - Hide the booty-filled treasure chest.

For a variation, put a lock on the treasure chest and ask your guests to do something fun or silly to win the key to open it. Done right, this treasure hunt can be fun for adults too. Think of all the creative things you could put inside the chest. I'll leave that to your imagination.

Element #6 - special Touches: Set Your Party Apart, Give Them Something From the Heart

Get your guests in the mood for your summer's end Shipwrecked Island Party with a favor to enhance their touch during the party itself. Upon arrival, give each of the adult men a lei made of tropical fern leaves, orchids, or seashells; the women, flower hair clips. Give the children something extra special. Fill goody bags with a pirate hat, an eye patch, a hoop earring, a telescope, chocolate gold coins, and a few other fun costume pieces that will transform them into pirates. Outfitting the kids as pirates ties in beautifully with the treasure hunt they'll be doing later as an activity. To enhance their pirate experience, create a Pirate's Cove or a place where they can congregate and play during the party.

A clever and easy way to tie in a birthday element is to have your young buccaneers sing Happy Birthday to the birthday guest of honor in exchange for the key to the treasure chest at the end of the Treasure Hunt.

Racing Cars - Calling The Tune.1976

Racing Cars - Calling The Tune.1976 Video Clips. Duration : 4.32 Mins.

They were signed to one of the biggest British record labels of the time, Chrysalis Records.[2] Racing Cars debut album yielded their only hit single with "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?". It reached number fourteen in the UK Singles Chart in 1977, and was inspired by the film, They Shoot Horses, Don't They?. Touring to promote their debut releases, Racing Cars backed Bad Company in 1976, including dates at Earls Court and the York Theatre Royal. Without any similar further chart appearances, Racing Cars ultimately acquired the dreaded one hit wonder label. However, the band was sufficiently established on the touring circuit to issue two further albums. These never reached the same commercial heights, and Racing Cars split up for the first time in the early 1980s. Those albums included bit parts for the session pianist Geraint Watkins; American saxophonist Jerry Jumonville; The Bowles Brothers Band (on vocal harmonies); and, perhaps most significantly, the former Swinging Blue Jeans member, Ray Ennis. After they parted, lead vocalist Morty has sung backing vocals for artists including The Beach Boys, Tina Turner and Bryan Adams. Of their reformation, he said "We were a bit reluctant. We're a bit long in the tooth and a bit out of touch but we finally said yes". They continue to play gigs across Europe, after reforming in 2000 with a new album, Bolt From The Blue and a gig at the Cardiff International Arena. Their most recent album Second Wind was released in October 2007 ...

Survivor Party Games, It's a Team Thing

Survivor is very favorite for testing the bonds of a team. In these survivor party games, teams will work together to achieve a task.

The first game has each team cooperating to keep a ball in the air and off the ground. Have each member of the team grab an edge of a towel or blanket. Place a beach ball in the middle. After "Ready, Set, Go!" each team will bump their ball into the air by lifting the blanket speedily on their edge. The goal of the game is to get as many "bumps" as possible in the time given without letting the ball touch the ground. This means you absolutely have to work together!

Jones Beach Concerts

Another fun survivor party game that challenges the mind is called "Stranded on an Island.." Players sit in a circle with the party person going first. They will say "If I were stranded on an island, I would hope to have...." and then name something that begins with "A" that would be helpful to have on an island. (An ax, for example.) The next person in line repeats the full line, the word starting with "A," and a new word starting with "B." Play continues around the circle until person can't remember one of the words. They are out of the circle and play continues, skipping them. The survivor of this game is the last one in the circle.

Some of this film's musical highlights include a performance with Count Basie, Caravan, Gentle Waltz, Boogie Woogie, Tiny's Exercise (by Art Tatum), Tenderly, Sweet Loraine (by Nat King Cole), Hymn to Freedom, Bag's Groove, Place St. Henri, Perdido (with Cleo Lane&John Dankworth), March Past, Nightmare, Hallelujah Time, Nigerian Marketplace, Lonesome One and more.

From concert performances and revealing insight from Oscar himself to enlightening interviews with a profusion of American musical icons, this DVD, Oscar Peterson: Music in the Key of Oscar, not only serves as the foremost documentary of the pianist, but as a testament to the undeniable legacy of legendary Jazz pianist and composer, Oscar Peterson.

Prom banquets are frequently based on a favorite song or current movie. Banquet themes such as Hollywood, silver screen, Arabian nights, Paris, Egyptian, Irish, Black Tie, Casino or Carnival are very popular. One of the most tasteless banquets comes at the end of a kid's sporting season. Celebrate a thriving year with a sports associated theme and food that kids love to eat such as pizza, burgers, soda, ice cream and cake. Reply the hard work all season with awards or trophies and don't forget the coaches! Most wedding receptions say an elegant and romantic banquet theme. Keep the individual taste of the concentrate and wedding party in mind when planning this one.

Surrounding yourself with a team of diverse talent is an additional one distinct of forming a committee. The practical folks will keep in mind what is permissible from budget perspective while the creative can dream up phenomenal and magical theme ideas. Work to find a equilibrium and you will arrive at a theme that is both fun and attractive but financially realistic as well.

Once you have located on a theme it's time to roll up your sleeves and delegate responsibilities to your committee members. originate a checklist and systematically go straight through it, such as organizing the guest list, picking and paying for the facility, and the caterer. Assign someone to coordinate the music or entertainment. Get a group together to assemble and place the decorations and lighting. When every person works well together the end effect will be a delightful banquet that will all the time be remembered by all of your guests.

Fun Adult Party Games

Adult party games can be a puny goofier and a puny more risqué so have some fun with the following two games we advise for your party.

The first game for the adult party is a fun romp called 'Feeding Time'. Have all the women at the party sit in a row of chairs on the opposite side of the party area. They should each have a baby bottle filled with something to drink (you can use milk or alcohol for these adult babies) and each should have a bib.

Jones Beach Concerts

Place an equal amount of men on the opposite side of the adult party area. At your 'go' each of the men should run to their partner and get into her lap. The women will tie a bib about the man's neck and start feeding him from the bottle. The man can cling on to the woman but he's not aloud to touch the bottle with his hands. Once the bottle is empty the woman unties the bib and both run back to the men's starting place. The winning merge is the first one over the desist line.

Our second recommendation is more of a fun pastime than an actual adult party game. 'Body painting' can be made a puny competing if you give an award at the end of the painting session for the most artistic or most risqué body art. You'll need to spread out some newspapers or a floor cloth to keep paint from coloring the carpet and you'll also need body paints or face crayons, brushes and some water.

Have the guests get into groups of three and dispose themselves so they can paint on each other's body. They can paint anywhere on the body as long as their painting partners are okay with it. At the end have every person admire each other's body art. This is without fail a game reserved for those adult parties so keep the kids out of it!

The Rolling Stones - Rock and Roll Circus Overview

Rolling Stones Photos

The Rolling Stones - Rock and Roll Circus Specifications

Unavailable at all for nearly three decades, then issued in a VHS edition in 1996, the Rolling Stones' legendary Rock and Roll Circus finally gets the full treatment with this DVD release documenting the 1968 event. The Stones were reportedly unhappy with their performance (hence the long delay), and it isn't their finest moment; performing "Jumping Jack Flash" and a variety of songs from their then-new Beggars Banquet album, Keith Richards is game, but Jagger's preening (especially on "Sympathy for the Devil") is over the top, and guitarist Brian Jones looks dissolute and well on his way to his death the following year. A certain weirdness permeates some of the other musical acts as well: Jethro Tull lip-syncs unconvincingly, Taj Mahal and band were obliged to perform before the circus set was completed and the audience had arrived, and John Lennon's outing with impromptu supergroup the Dirty Mac (with Richards, Eric Clapton, and drummer Mitch Mitchell) is hampered by Yoko Ono's caterwauling, although their version of the Beatles' "Yer Blues" is cool. Still, the Who are brilliant, Marianne Faithfull is beautiful, the various circus acts are fun, and the crowd clearly loves it.

The DVD comes with some fascinating bonus features, including three extra songs by Mahal, some lovely classical piano by Julius Katchen, and a "quad split-screen" version of "Yer Blues." Best of all are a new interview with the Who's Pete Townshend and the various commentary tracks added for the DVD--especially those by Tull's Ian Anderson, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg, and Stones Jagger, Richards, and Bill Wyman (who dryly attributes Jagger's reluctance to issue the show to his dissatisfaction with his own performance, not the band's). Flaws notwithstanding, this is a treat. --Sam Graham
